Sessions

A woman and a young girl are standing in a room, engaging in a fitness test or exercise. The woman is facing the girl with her hands open, as if giving instructions or encouragement. The girl, dressed in a gray sports top and black pants, is standing with her back straight while holding a basketball. The girl is standing on an exercise balance disk and is barefoot. There is a wooden wall bar, a speaker, and a measuring tape on the wall behind them.

Sessions

I offer both in-person and virtual sessions to clients within Canada.

What to Expect in Sessions

Sessions are designed to meet you where you’re at—taking into account your history, current symptoms, and how your body is feeling that day.

No two sessions are exactly the same. Your program is individualized and adjusted as needed to support safe, consistent progress over time.

A Safe, Supportive, and Private Environment

A strong priority in my work is creating an environment where you feel:

  • safe

  • respected

  • heard

Sessions take place in a quiet, private space, with a focus on comfort, confidentiality, and professionalism.

If you’ve had difficult or frustrating experiences with exercise in the past, that is taken into account. You will never be pushed beyond what feels appropriate for your body.

Working With Your Body—Not Against It

Symptoms can vary from day to day. Pain, fatigue, stiffness, or flare-ups are all taken into account.

We use simple check-ins—such as rating pain or symptoms—to help guide each session. Based on this, exercises may be adjusted in real time by:

  • modifying movements or positions

  • adjusting volume or intensity

  • changing the focus of the session

These check-ins also help determine whether we simply need to modify the session, whether support from a healthcare professional (such as a physiotherapist or physician) may be helpful, or whether more immediate medical attention may be appropriate.

My education, first aid training, and personal experience all contribute to creating a safety-focused and supportive environment where concerns are taken seriously.

The goal is not to push through pain, but to work within a range that feels manageable and productive.

A Gradual, Individualized Approach

Exercises are often simple in appearance, but focus on:

  • alignment and positioning

  • control and body awareness

  • building strength and stability over time

We typically start with low volumes and progress gradually to reduce the risk of flare-ups and build confidence.

Programs are designed to be done at home with minimal equipment, making them realistic and sustainable.

How Sessions Are Structured

All new clients begin with two initial sessions:

Initial Assessment

A comprehensive session that includes review of your intake forms, discussion of your history and goals, and a head-to-toe movement assessment.

Photos or videos may be used as part of the assessment process (kept strictly confidential).

You will typically begin with a few foundational exercises during this session.

First Follow-Up

A detailed review of assessment findings, along with education and the development of your individualized exercise plan.

Ongoing Sessions

Follow-up sessions focus on:

  • progressing your exercises safely

  • adapting to how your body is responding

  • refining technique and movement patterns

  • supporting consistency and long-term progress

Session frequency varies depending on the individual, but many clients begin with weekly or bi-weekly sessions to build momentum (as schedules and budgets allow).

Education & Understanding Your Body

A large part of my work involves education, discussion, and listening.

I take time to help you better understand your body, your condition, and how to approach movement in a way that makes sense for you. This may include using models (spine, pelvis, foot, knee, and more), reviewing reports, or helping you better understand information you’ve received from your healthcare providers—at a pace that feels clear and manageable.

The goal is not just to guide you through exercises, but to help you:

  • understand why you’re doing them

  • recognize what your body is telling you

  • develop strategies to manage symptoms and make informed decisions

Where appropriate, I can also help you communicate with or better understand recommendations from your broader care team (such as physicians, physiotherapists, psychologists, or pharmacists), so you feel more confident and supported.

Even younger clients often begin to understand and use the language around their bodies and exercises—building confidence not just in movement, but in understanding themselves.

A Collaborative Approach

Sessions are a collaborative process.

Your feedback, experiences, and observations are an important part of the process. We work together to adjust and refine your program so it continues to fit your body and your life.

Building Skills for the Long Term

Many of the individuals I work with are managing ongoing or chronic conditions.

My goal is not just to support you in sessions, but to help you build skills that last—so you can continue to care for your body independently over time.

Even if we only work together for a short period, the aim is that you leave with tools, knowledge, and strategies you can continue to use.

At the same time, many clients choose to continue with periodic sessions—for progression, support through setbacks, or new goals as they arise.

Ongoing Support

Support doesn’t end when the session does.

I remain available for check-ins, questions, and guidance between sessions to help you stay on track and adjust as needed.

Helping you learn specific movements and exercises so that you can live your life, work toward your goals, and do the things you want to do!
